With this update to our AceOffix plug-in, you can now edit Excel sheets in the cloud!!

There is no special setting that needs to be enabled if you are already using UCM’s Edit-In-Cloud feature, but an updated version of the plug-in must be installed on your local PC. For instructions, click HERE.

If you’ve never used UCM’s Edit-In-Cloud feature and would like more information, you can find that HERE.

This update will also fix an issue with page numbering on Word Documents. They will now display correctly.

Edit-In-Cloud | Excel

To edit your Excel sheets in the Cloud, all you need is to have the file uploaded to a Container, and follow the same steps you would if it were a Word document. The fastest way would be if your Excel sheet was your primary document, you can simply click Edit in Cloud to bring up your spreadsheet.

You can also use the Attachments Tab from inside a Container to see all your documents, and any Excel sheets there can be selected to edit even if it is not your primary document. Just select the Current File link, NOT the Document Name link, on the most current version of your Excel sheet to open it in AceOffix.

Excel File Types & Saving

We want to make mention that you can not change the file type of your Excel sheet with AceOffix. This is important to know because that means if you upload a CSV file, ANY formatting you do within AceOffix will be lost when you save. All data manipulations you make will be saved, just not the formatting, like cell size, header coloring, etc. Most software, UCM included, exports their reports to CSV files, so this may be a common occurrence for our users.

If you believe that you’ll be making formatting changes to your Excel sheets, all you need to do is save the file locally first as an Excel File (.XLSX), and upload that file instead of the CSV. This will allow you to work freely, and know that all your changes, formatting included, will save correctly. You can verify what your file type is while you work by checking the top of the AceOffix window.
